What is NAHRO?

The purpose of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) is to be the leading housing and community development advocate for the provision of adequate and affordable housing and strong, viable communities for all Americans, particularly those with low to moderate income, and to enhance the professional development and effectiveness of NAHRO's members.

Iowa Chapter Mission Statement

The mission of Iowa NAHRO is to increase professionalism through training, networking, and member involvement, and to educate members regarding state and national housing and community development policies with the ultimate benefit of a higher standard of service to the people in communities served.

Networking

Iowa NAHRO members have access to a wide variety of individuals with specialized skills. Members have an opportunity to work with others who have experienced similar housing and community development challenges.

Professional Development

Iowa NAHRO sponsors professional development training and conferences on housing and community development. These programs are designed to help housing practitioners acquire and sharpen the practical skills needed for today's housing and community development work.

Advocacy

Iowa NAHRO is committed to representing the interests of members at the state and regional level, Each year state legislative priorities are established and supported by the organization. Iowa NAHRO is in its third decade of housing advocacy.

At the national level NAHRO has actively and effectively supported housing and community development for more than 60 years.
